Michaelis at the MOVA

Michaelis in the Leipzig Museum of Visual Art

The Leipzig Museum of Visual Art presents a part of its extensive collection of paintings, sculptures and graphic works dating from the Late Middle Ages to contemporary times. These works are shown in an exhibition space of around 7,000 square meters and include famous and renowned pieces from Dutch and German masters such as Frans Hals, Lucas Cranach the Elder, Caspar David Friedrich as well as important sculptural works by Max Klinger.

The museum also offers private viewings of works from painters of the Leipzig School such as Bernhard Heisig, Werner Tübke and Wolfgang Mattheuer or larger collections of the younger generation of painters such as Neo Rauch.

Since 2004, the museum has been housed in a pioneering and modern building. Michaelis operates the Museum Café & Bistro and hosts stylish, exclusive and sophisticated events in this beautifully light-flooded glass building.
